Purchasing pricey coffee is a luxury. The type of coffee you drink (and I don’t mean blend or flavor) is also a status symbol, which is why some shops can charge so much; you’re buying the brand and the lifestyle, not just a cup of joe. But now the famous starbucks cup, an indulgent must-have for many Americans, has become a symbol of excess. Could this represent a small part of how we have begun to reevaluate American values?
